Unified Inbox for Gmail — Privacy Policy
What Unified Inbox does
Unified Inbox for Gmail ("Unified Inbox") is a Chrome extension that shows the inboxes of several Gmail accounts together inside Gmail, and lets you read, search, reply to, send and organise email for each connected account.
Data the extension accesses
When you connect a Google account, you grant the extension access through Google's OAuth consent screen. It requests these permissions (scopes):
| Scope | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
email, profile | To identify the connected account (email address, name and profile picture) and show it in the extension. |
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify | To list and display your conversations, open messages and attachments, search, archive, delete, mark as read/unread, star, label, report spam, unsubscribe, create and edit labels, read your signature, and send the emails you write — all only when you use those features. |
How your data is used
- Data is used only to provide the features you see in the extension, at your request.
- Data is not sold, rented or shared with anyone.
- Data is not used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions or any purpose unrelated to the extension.
- No human (including the developer) reads your data.
Where your data is stored
All data stays on your own device, in Chrome's extension storage:
- Account list and settings (email, name, picture URL, colour, chosen categories, label names) — stored locally until you remove the account or uninstall the extension.
- Conversation list cache (subject, sender, short snippet, date, read/star/label state) — stored locally so the inbox opens quickly; refreshed from Gmail and deleted when you remove the account.
- Access tokens — kept in Chrome's session storage, which is cleared when the browser closes. No long-lived refresh tokens are stored.
- Message bodies and attachments — loaded from Gmail when you open a conversation and kept only in memory while it is open.
- Templates, snoozes and reminders — your saved templates and the list of snoozed conversations and follow-up reminders (subject and due time) are stored locally.
- Drafts and scheduled emails — "Save as draft" and "Schedule send in Gmail" save the message as a draft in that account's Gmail; scheduling is then done by Gmail itself.
To snooze a conversation, the extension adds a Gmail label called Unified Inbox/Snoozed to it and returns
it to your inbox at the chosen time. "Remind me if nobody replies" returns a conversation to your inbox if no reply arrived.
Desktop notifications are shown locally by Chrome and can be turned off in the extension's settings.
The extension communicates only with Google services (gmail.googleapis.com, www.googleapis.com,
accounts.google.com) and with Gmail itself. When you choose "Unsubscribe", the extension contacts the
unsubscribe address provided by that email's sender. Images inside emails are loaded from the sender's servers when
you open a message, as in most email clients.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Unified Inbox's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices

Security

Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
